Position Title: Student Success Coordinator – The Black InGenius Initiative (BiGI)
Position Type: Administrator, School of Leadership and Education Sciences Employment: Full-time temporary Location: San Diego, California Hours: 37.5 per week Salary: $5,859 – 6,084 per month Closing Date: June 29, 2026

Supports the mission of the BiGI program within the School of Leadership and Education Sciences by enhancing student engagement, academic success, and overall student experience for underrepresented students.

• Develop and implement holistic student engagement strategies that foster academic achievement, personal growth, and overall student success. Provide individualized academic and personal support while cultivating an inclusive environment where students feel empowered to thrive.
• Maintain a comprehensive student case management system to address unique needs, goals, and challenges for each student in the caseload.
• Organize and conduct training sessions for POD leaders who facilitate Saturday workshops and Summer Academies, monitor progress and effectiveness offering ongoing support and guidance.
• Develop and enhance educational content for the Summer Academy, monthly Saturday workshops, and college tours, ensuring curricula are neurodiversity‑supportive, socially just and research‑based.
• Collaborate with BiGI team and faculty to coordinate student‑focused events and workshops, manage communications and update stakeholders on program activities.
• Track student participation and progress, maintain accurate records and contribute to reports on outcomes and program effectiveness.
• Act as liaison among students, faculty, and community stakeholders to facilitate connections and networking opportunities.
• Collect and analyze student and caretaker feedback to continuously improve services and program effectiveness.
• Provide one‑on‑one and group support to students, addressing academic and personal needs.
• Conduct on‑site visits to schools to assist and ensure student success.
• Coordinate student events, Saturday workshops, and meetings.
• Maintain and update confidential student records.
• Collaborate with other staff and departments to enhance student services.
• Participate in development and implementation of student success strategies.
• Serve as point of contact for student and caretaker inquiries, offering guidance and referrals.
• Engage in continuous professional development related to student success.

• Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Leadership, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in student services, teaching, counseling, coaching, or a similar role in an educational setting.
• Experience in program development and student engagement strategies.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

• Experience working in higher education.
• Familiarity with student information systems and educational technology tools.
• Evidence‑based practices to support students from historically excluded populations.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web‑based applications.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks.
• Strong empathy and active listening skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

• Successful completion of a pre‑employment background check.
• Provide official transcripts for degree verification.
