- Teach lecture and lab classes as assigned, maintaining professional conduct and ethics.
- Deliver instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
- Maintain current knowledge in subject matter areas.
- Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member, including attending required meetings and events.
- Teach all scheduled classes and provide quality instruction.
- Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and record‑keeping.
- Create an environment that encourages discussion of ideas, interests, and issues.
- Be available to students outside of class for academic support.
- Minimum one of the following:
Bachelor's degree with at least four (4) years of mobile intensive care paramedic experience (preferred) or Associate degree with at least six (6) years of mobile intensive care paramedic experience. - Current licensure, in good standing, as a Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic for the State of California; or out‑of‑state licensure with eligibility for California licensure.
- At least four (4) years of academic or clinical experience in the practice of mobile intensive care paramedicine in the past five (5) years.
- Teaching experience in emergency medical care within the last two (2) years.
- Completion of one of the following courses:
Fire Instructor 1A & 1B; UC/CSU 60‑hour Techniques of Teaching Course;
National Fire Academy Fire Service Instructional Methodology Course; or four (4) semester units of upper‑division credit in educational materials, methods, and curriculum development. - Current certification as a BLS Instructor, ACLS Instructor, and PHTLS Instructor.
- Knowledge of California Code of Regulations Title 22 relating to EMT‑1 training, certification, and scope of practice.
- Knowledge of San Diego County Office of Emergency Medical Services Policy and Procedures related to EMT‑1 practice.
- Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
Foreign degree evaluation required if applicable.
