Overview
Part‑time adjunct faculty are required at the San Diego Community College District’s three campuses and continuing education centers. Positions are as‑needed, with assignments that may include day, evening, weekend, or off‑campus classes. Adjuncts will be added to a pool and contacted when a suitable teaching opportunity aligns with their qualifications.
Responsibilities- Prepare and deliver instruction according to the approved curriculum and course outlines.
- Teach all scheduled lecture and lab classes.
- Maintain accurate student records and teaching materials.
- Be available for student consultation outside of class hours.
- Uphold appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
- Keep current knowledge of the subject matter and pedagogical practices.
- Create a learning environment that encourages free discussion of ideas, interests, and issues.
- Master’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physiology, Adaptive Physical Education, or a related discipline (or a bachelor’s degree with the following supplements):
- • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physiology, Adaptive Physical Education, or a related field; AND
- • Master’s degree in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, or physical therapy; AND
- • Fifteen (15) semester units of upper‑division or graduate study in Adapted Physical Education.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, and disability backgrounds.
- Foreign degree holders with evaluations from a recognized credentialing service (NACES or ACEI).
- Experience teaching in a community‑college setting or equivalent instruction experience.
- Evidence of professional development and community involvement with diverse populations.
All applicants must demonstrate cultural competency and sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of students, faculty, and staff, encompassing academic, socioeconomic, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic contexts.
Certificates & Credentials- California Community College Instructor Credential in Physical Education (valid for life) – optional yet preferred.
