POSITION OVERVIEW
Adjunct/Substitute Instructor (Non-credit) for the Interdisciplinary Basic Skills pool within the San Diego Community College District. The role is part‑time, temporary, and assignments are scheduled as needed across the district’s campuses.
WORKING CONDITIONSAssignments may include day, evening, weekend, and off‑campus classes. Candidates should reside within commuting distance to San Diego and be prepared for flexible hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Teach lecture and lab classes as assigned.
- Deliver instruction in accordance with course outlines and the established curriculum.
- Be available to students outside of class.
- Maintain professional conduct and ethics at all times.
- Keep current knowledge in subject‑matter areas.
- Teach all scheduled classes.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and assignments.
- Create a supportive learning environment that encourages discussion of ideas and interests.
- Bachelor’s degree in any social science, humanities, mathematics, natural science, or liberal studies from a regionally accredited institution.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds.
- For foreign degree holders: coursework must be evaluated by a NACES or ACEI‑approved professional evaluation.
- Full‑time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in the relevant subject.
- Experience demonstrating cultural competency and sensitivity to diversity.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules and off‑campus locations.
- Submit official college transcripts (even if degree is not a requirement).
- Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam, renewed every four years.
- Undergo Live Scan fingerprinting; clearance must be received prior to first day of employment.
- Provide original documents proving eligibility to work in the United States.

PAY INFORMATIONPay is based on the Adjunct College Salary Schedule. Salary determination occurs after receipt of official transcripts and relevant verifications.
