Adjunct Pool​/Sociology & Criminal Justice

Job Summary

School of Behavioral & Social Sciences seeks adjunct instructors to teach sociology and/or criminal justice courses at Point Loma Nazarene University. Compensation ranges from $5,013 to $6,684 per semester based on units assigned.

• Provide instruction in sociology and/or criminal justice courses, including general education and service courses.
• Work collaboratively with diverse colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
• Engage in personal scholarship, and involve students in scholarship where possible.
• Advise students academically, spiritually, and socially.
• Participate in departmental activities and governance.
• Serve on university faculty committees or working groups as required.
• Perform other standard faculty duties and support student preparation for post‑graduate careers.

• MA or Ph.D. in Sociology, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
• Evidence of commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
• Demonstrated effectiveness teaching students from diverse backgrounds.
• Commitment to Christian liberal arts education and desire to work at a Christian university.
• Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement.
• Agreement to live in accordance with PLNU’s Community Life Covenant.
• Successful completion of a background check.

Adjunct pay ranges from $5,013 to $6,684 per semester, based on units assigned.
