Adjunct Faculty – Political Science
University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach on‑site in San Diego, CA, for the Political Science program.
Position DetailsPosition:
Adjunct Faculty – Political Science (On‑site, San Diego, CA)
Salary:
Commensurate with experience.
Term:
Open until filled.
- Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed and conveys enthusiasm for learning.
- Guide students in active collaboration and application of their learning in problem‑ and project‑based learning demonstrations.
- Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for assessment of student work, and acknowledge student accomplishments.
- Demonstrate relevant and current subject‑matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
- Provide feedback to program chair on possible curricular improvements.
- Master’s degree in Political Science or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Professional experience in Political Science, political theory, American government, international relations, or related field.
- Prior teaching experience required; experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education strongly preferred.
- Preferred: professional experience in homeland security, counter terrorism, domestic governmental operations, administrative policy, or related topics.
