Adjunct Faculty – Red Hat Linux System Administration
University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach in the School of Cybersecurity & Information Technology at the UMGC Stateside campus in San Diego, CA.
Courses- Introduction to Linux (CMIT 291): A study of the Linux operating system, including configuration and management of processes, user interfaces, device files, print facilities, file systems, task automation, boot‑up/shutdown sequence, disk storage, network connectivity, system security, and users and groups.

388):
Development of foundational skills for an RHCSA‑certified Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administrator. Covers advanced command‑line concepts and enterprise‑level tools for cybersecurity professionals, including installation, networking configuration, physical storage management, automation/programmability, and security administration tasks.
Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in Cybersecurity or related field from an accredited institution.
- Active, current Linux certification.
- Professional experience in computer networking and security.
- Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education (strongly preferred).
- Position is onsite in San Diego, CA.
Education and Experience
Active, current certification in CCNA, Cisco, or CEH.
Responsibilities- Engage students regularly, motivating them to succeed and demonstrating genuine enthusiasm for learning.
- Guide students in collaborative, problem‑ and project‑based learning demonstrations.
- Provide constructive feedback using rubrics for assessment and acknowledging student accomplishments.
- Demonstrate current subject‑matter expertise and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
- Provide feedback to the program chair on potential curricular improvements.
- Complete UMGC’s online two‑week new faculty orientation, Fac Dev
411, as a condition of hire.
Salary commensurate with experience.
