Salary placement is contingent upon receipt of official sealed transcripts and Verifications of Previous Work Experience, if applicable. Adjunct instructors with advanced coursework and/or experience will be placed on the appropriate class and step of the Adjunct College Salary Schedules effective the first month following receipt of the required documentation.

The Position

Part‑time/temporary faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. These positions are as‑needed, with assignments that may include day, evening, weekend, and/or off‑campus classes. Applicants should live within commuting distance to San Diego.

Major Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
• Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
• Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
• Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member.
• Teach all scheduled classes.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Offer quality instruction, creating an environment that encourages free discussion of ideas, interests, and issues.

Qualifications

• Master’s in Art History, History of Art and Architecture, or Visual Culture/Visual Studies.
• or Bachelor’s in Art History and Master’s in History.
• or Master’s in Art with a recorded emphasis or concentration in Art History.
• or the equivalent.

Desired Qualifications

• Equivalency:
  If you do not possess the exact degrees listed above or will receive the required degree prior to teaching, complete the "Request for Equivalency" form and attach it during your application.
• Foreign degrees:
  Applicants with foreign degrees must have coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of NACES or ACEI; submit the evaluation with your application.

Conditions of Employment

• Submit official transcripts.
• Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (renewed every four years).
• Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the candidate’s expense (clearance must be received prior to first day of employment).
• Present original documents to prove eligibility to work in the United States.

Additional Information

An employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.
