Job DescriptionThe San Diego Unified School District is currently accepting applications for the position of Child Development Center Assistant. This opportunity is open to all interested candidates. This recruitment will be used to establish an eligibility list for current and future vacancies. This list will be good for one month with the possibility to be extended.

Basic FunctionThe Child Development Center Assistant provides assistance to the instructional program in classrooms, resource centers, halls, and playgrounds at a Children’s Center, Child Development Center, or State Preschool. Vacancies / Position Specifics- Various Working Locations:
The District covers a large portion of San Diego County. Refer to the District Area Map at this Link and make sure to identify any and all specific area(s) you are interested in working in. 10 months per year / 35 hours per week. - Salary:
This position is paid on the Para educator Salary Schedule. Grade 020. To view the Salary Schedule, . - Positions 20 hours per week or greater qualify for District-paid health and wellness benefits for the employee and their eligible dependents.
- Vacancies that require the incumbent to be Bilingual will be noted. Candidates considered for positions that require bilingual skills will be invited to a Performance Test (Qualifying Only) for oral and written fluency. Bilingual positions qualify for a 5% bilingual differential.

Minimum QualificationsEducation and Experience
High School diploma/GED and a passing score on the San Diego Unified School District Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (CAPE) or an Associate’s degree (or higher) or 48 or more eligible units of coursework at a recognized college or university. Completion of post high school courses in Psychology, Early Childhood Development, Elementary Education, Special Education, or related field is desirable.

Personal appearance and language patterns will provide a satisfactory example to pupils. Some positions may require conversational and/or written skills in a specific foreign language related to the needs of the assignment.
