Description

The San Diego State University Marketing Department at Fowler College of Business seeks to hire a tenure-track assistant professor with expertise in Sales and Strategy to begin August 18, 2027.

Candidates must demonstrate experience in and/or commitment to teaching. Applicants should possess a strong research interest and capability, evidenced by a history of or potential for professional growth. This includes regular publication in quality, refereed journals, participation in professional conferences, and an active, innovative research agenda. Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with the business community.

The SDSU Fowler College of Business, one of the nation's oldest and largest AACSB-accredited business schools, has a significant regional, national, and international impact. The Marketing Department's faculty are active in research areas including consumer behavior, marketing management, strategy, and sales management, with expertise in experience design, sensory marketing, digital marketing, marketing analytics, societal impact, and sustainability.

Their research has appeared in the Journal of Marketing, Management Science, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Advertising, and Journal of Public Policy and Marketing.

Qualifications

Required qualifications by date of application

  • A record of original research / scholarly / creative accomplishments and demonstrated capacity to a) develop a vigorous and independent program of research / scholarship / creative activity, b) teach graduate and undergraduate courses; and c) engage in both campus and professional service activities.
  • Demonstration of past accomplishments and/or future plans in at least two (2) or more of the “Building on Inclusive Excellence” criteria.
Required Qualifications By Date Of Hire
  • Doctorate in Marketing or a related field, with all degree requirements met before the first day of the Fall 2027 semester.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated expertise in the discipline and its methodologies
  • Record of publications, presentations, and/or funding
  • Demonstrated proficiency in interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches to research / scholarship / teaching
  • University-level teaching experience
  • Preparation for teaching students from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated interest in relevant service to the university, community, and profession
  • Engaged in service or research with different populations in higher education
  • Understanding of the mission and goals of the academic unit and SDSU

The minimum salary for this position is based on the current CSU salary schedule and may be revised based on contract collective bargaining. The anticipated salary range is from $140,000 to $147,000. Salary placement will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience, and salaries higher than the published maximums may be offered in limited circumstances. San Diego State University offers a rich benefits package that constitutes a major portion of total compensation.
