Part‑time/temporary faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. As one of the largest community college districts in southern California, we offer a wide range of opportunities in transfer, general education, vocational and occupational programs. These positions are as‑needed and applicants should live within commuting distance to San Diego.
Assignments may include a combination of day, evening, weekend, and/or off‑campus classes.
NOTE:
The San Diego Community College District accepts applications for adjunct positions for our three college campuses and various continuing education centers on a continuous basis. Immediate openings are not guaranteed. Qualified applicants will be included in the adjunct pool for possible assignments in fall, spring, and/or summer semesters. Hiring departments use the adjunct pool when there is a need and will contact qualified candidates directly.
Responsibilities
- Teach lecture and lab classes as assigned, providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
- Be available to students outside of class hours.
- Maintain professional conduct and ethics standards.
- Keep current knowledge of subject matter areas.
- Fulfill all professional responsibilities of a part‑time or temporary faculty member.
- Teach all scheduled classes and maintain accurate records.
- Create a learning environment that encourages free discussion of ideas, interests, and issues.
- Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or Dietetics and Food Administration.
- OR Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or Dietetics and Food Administration AND Master’s degree in Chemistry, Public Health, or Family and Consumer Studies/Home Economics.
- OR possession of a California Community College Instructor Credential in Health and Physical Care Services and Related Technologies (valid for life).
- Note:
A Bachelor’s in Nutrition, Dietetics, or Dietetics and Food Administration plus registration as a dietitian is an alternative qualification. - Equivalent credentials or experience may be considered.
Applicants who do not possess the exact degrees or qualifications may submit a Request for Equivalency Form. Foreign degrees must be evaluated by a professional association such as NACES or ACEI; a copy of the evaluation must be submitted with the application.

Conditions of Employment- Submit official college transcripts prior to employment.
- Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for the initial appointment and renew the certificate every four years.
- Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the district’s expense; clearance must be received prior to the first day of employment.
- Present original documents proving eligibility to work in the United States.
