Job DescriptionThe San Diego Unified School District is currently accepting applications for the position of Library Assistant. This opportunity is open to all interested candidates. This list will be good for three months with the possibility to be extended.

BASIC FUNCTIONThe Library Assistant position will provide assistance to the instructional program in school libraries/media centers.

Location:
McKinley Elementary School - 3045 Felton St, San Diego, CA 92104 (Area E ). - The District covers a large portion of San Diego County. Refer to the District Area Map.
- Work Schedule: 10 months per year / 8 hours per week. This is a part-time opportunity and not eligible for district health and wellness benefits.
- Salary: This position is paid on the Para educator Salary Schedule. Grade 20.
- Vacancies requiring the incumbent to be bilingual are noted. Candidates considered for positions that require bilingual skills will be invited to a Performance Test (Qualifying Only) for oral and written fluency. Bilingual positions qualify for a 5% bilingual differential.
Education and Experience
High School diploma/GED and a passing score on the San Diego Unified School District Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (CAPE) or an Associate’s degree (or higher) or 48 or more eligible units of coursework at a recognized college or university. Completion of post high school courses in Psychology, Early Childhood Development, Elementary Education, Special Education, or related field is desirable.

Personal appearance and language patterns will provide a satisfactory example to pupils. Some positions may require conversational and/or written skills in a specific foreign language related to the needs of the assignment.
