Associated Students Coordinator, Imperial Valley Campus (Student Services Professional IB)

Position Summary The Associated Students Coordinator plays an important role in fostering student engagement, leadership development, and campus involvement at San Diego State University Imperial Valley. Under the general supervision of the Dean of Students, this position serves as the Student Affairs liaison to the SDSU Imperial Valley Associated Students and supports the coordination of student activities, cultural programs, leadership initiatives, and governance operations.

The incumbent collaborates with student leaders, faculty, staff, and campus partners to facilitate events, support Associated Students operations, coordinate scholarships and student organizations, and enhance opportunities that strengthen campus life and the student experience. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping students develop leadership skills, build community, and create a vibrant campus environment.

Key Responsibilities Support the Associated Students by coordinating student leadership activities, cultural programs, campus events, and communication between student leaders and university departments. Provide administrative support for Associated Students operations, including agendas, meeting minutes, elections, policy guidance, budget-related processes, and organizational communications. Coordinate Associated Students scholarship and operational processes, including scholarship administration, purchasing, inventory, vendor documentation, and financial procedures. Support Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs), Student Life programs, and campus traditions by assisting with organization resources, event promotion, leadership training, and student engagement initiatives.

Collaborate with student leaders, faculty, staff, and campus partners to promote a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging student experience at SDSU Imperial Valley.

Position Information This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. This position is located at SDSU Imperial Valley in Calexico, CA, approximately 120 miles east of the San Diego main campus.

The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in Imperial Valley.

Department Summary SDSU Imperial Valley is a campus/college of San Diego State University serving the desert area of southeastern California. It is accredited as an integral unit of SDSU and operates under the same governance structure and university policies. Established in 1959 by an act of the State Legislature, SDSU IV offers its programs at two locations in Imperial County:
Calexico and Brawley. Offering four-year and two-year undergraduate degrees, graduate degrees, and post-baccalaureate credential programs, SDSU Imperial Valley helps matriculated students achieve their higher education goals. Currently, SDSU IV employs 61 full-time faculty and staff members.

Education and Experience Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown below may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Possession of the required knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of one year of experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level.

Equivalent amounts of graduate level, job-related education may be substituted for the required experience.

Key Qualifications Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google G Suite; (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Docs) Experience promoting and planning events. Periodic evening and weekend hours will be required for presentations and/or activities;
Must be willing to travel. Bachelor's degree is preferred. Demonstrated understanding, experience and sensitivity with diverse student communities. Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
