The Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy in the Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University (SDSU) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor with expertise in Accounting Information Systems or Auditingto begin August 18, 2027. Candidates must demonstrate experience in and/or commitment to teaching.
Applicants should possess a strong research interest and capability, evidenced by a history of or potential for professional growth. This includes regular publication in quality, refereed journals, participation in professional conferences, and an active, innovative research agenda. Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with the business community. The candidate will be expected to teach in the areas of Accounting Information Systems or Auditing.

The Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy is AACSB Accounting accredited with approximately 800 undergraduate students and 100 graduate students. The School’s academic programs are a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) – Accounting Major, Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA), Master of Science in Accountancy and Data Analytics (STEM), and a combined 4+1 degree program (BMACC). The School’s faculty includes 15 tenure-track faculty as well as several full- and part-time lecturers.
Support for research includes access to databases (e.g., WRDS), funding for approved projects through grant programs, graduate student assistants, and a research budget for conference travel and items/data supporting research. Required qualifications by date of application
A record of original research / scholarly / creative accomplishments and demonstrated capacity to a) develop a vigorous and independent program of research / scholarship / creative activity, b) teach graduate and undergraduate courses; and c) engage in both campus and professional service activities.
Doctorate in Accountancy or a related field, with all degree requirements met before the first day of the Fall 2027 semester, August 18, 2027.
Preferred qualifications
Demonstrated expertise in the discipline and its methodologies
Record of publications, presentations, and/or funding
Demonstrated proficiency in interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches to research/ scholarship/ teaching
University-level teaching experience
Preparation for teaching students from diverse backgrounds
Demonstrated interest in relevant service to the university, community, and profession
Understanding of the mission and goals of the academic unit and SDSU
Engaged in service or research with different populations in higher education
