Adjunct Faculty – Photography, Fine Arts, or Art

District Wide (applicable to City, Mesa, Miramar campuses and continuing education centers)

Salary will be set upon receipt of official transcripts and verifications of prior work experience, if applicable. Instructors with advanced coursework and/or experience will be placed on the appropriate class and step on the Adjunct College Salary Schedules, effective the first month following receipt.

• Primary duties involve curriculum and teaching; assignment divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department.
• Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
• Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
• Maintain current knowledge in subject matter areas.
• Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member.
• Teach all scheduled classes.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues.

• Master’s degree in Photography, Fine Arts, or Art; OR
• Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Fine Arts, or Art AND Master’s degree in Art History or Humanities; OR
• Possession of a California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in Art and Design, including Photography; OR
• Equivalent qualifications.

Applicants who do not possess the exact degrees listed may submit a “Request for Equivalency Form.”

California Community College Instructor Credential in Art and Design, including Photography (valid for life).

Applicants must have demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and classified professionals.

• Complete official college transcripts.
• Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (renewed every 4 years).
• Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer (clearance received prior to first day of employment).
• Present original documents to prove eligibility to work in the United States.

• Newly hired faculty members are required to submit official transcripts.
• All new SDCCD employees must provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment and renew every 4 years.
• Employees may be transferred to any site at the Chancellor’s option.
