Salary: AES framework, Hourly Pay, Step 1 - 2: $25.46- $27.67.
Job SummaryUnder the general supervision of the School Director, the Apprentice Education Specialist Teacher (AEST) is enrolled in the HTH Teacher Center District Intern Education Specialist Credentialing Program, co‑teaching alongside an experienced teacher to gradually assume teaching responsibilities. The candidate will case‑manage a small caseload of special education students, design and deliver specialized academic instruction, and work collaboratively within a team.
Duties- Embed High Tech High’s design principles—Equity, Personalization, Authentic Work, and Collaborative Design—into all work activities.
- Plan and teach students who receive special education services.
- Participate in the full range of teacher activities, including open houses, exhibitions, faculty meetings, and professional development.
- Support instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
- Grade assignments and homework regularly to keep students updated on progress.
- Identify students’ assets and needs, and locate resources to support them.
- Time management for self and others.
- Professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, equity, honesty, and personal accountability at all times.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional administrative and organizational skills.
- Proficient knowledge of teaching strategies and methods.
- Incorporate goals, competencies, and objectives into lesson plans that directly apply to students’ lives.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Ability to manage diversity.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Basic skills requirement.
- Certificate of clearance.
- Completion of District Intern summer preservice coursework (120 hours).
- Met all program and credential requirements for official enrollment into the District Intern Program 2024-25.
