Adjunct Faculty Position
Location:
District Wide. Required to live within commuting distance to San Diego.
Position type:
Adjunct (Part‑time/temporary). FLSA status:
Exempt (does not accrue overtime). Salary will be set based on the Adjunct College Salary Schedules once official transcripts are received. Initial salary placement will be at the first class/step until official transcripts have been submitted.
- Teach lecture and lab classes as assigned, including days, evenings, weekends, and off‑campus courses.
- Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
- Maintain professional conduct, ethical standards, and current knowledge in subject matter areas.
- Keep accurate records, including attendance, grading, and instructor records.
- Be available to students outside of class for academic support.
- Fulfill all administrative responsibilities required of part‑time/temporary faculty.
- Create a learning environment that encourages discussion of ideas and supports student learning.
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline AND six (6) semester units in American history and institutions from a regionally accredited institution; OR equivalent.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds.
Equivalent foreign degrees may be considered subject to professional equivalency evaluation.
Desired Qualifications- Full‑time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in the subject of the course.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds.

Conditions of Employment- Submit official college transcripts.
- Provide a valid Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam, updated every four years.
- Provide fingerprints via Live Scan computer (district pays).
- Present original documents for proof of U.S. work eligibility.
Applicants should complete the Request for Equivalency Form if eligibility does not meet all minimum qualifications. Foreign‑degree holders must submit a professional equivalency evaluation.
