Adjunct Pool - Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling

Position Summary

Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) invites applications for adjunct faculty in the Masters of Clinical Counseling program. The role involves teaching graduate‑level courses in a Christian liberal arts environment.

Academic units: 3‑unit full semester appointment; salary range $5,013 – $6,684 based on units. Part‑time position.

• Facilitate class instruction for a graduate‑level course according to department standards.
• Develop, deliver, and review course materials and syllabi.
• Evaluate student performance and provide substantive feedback on class participation and assignments.
• Utilize the Canvas platform for assignments, grading, and course structure.
• Input final grades in Workday.
• Provide accommodations for students who require them through the PLNU Educational Access Center.
• Attend department events and meetings as identified.
• Report weekly hours worked in Workday.

• Ph.D., Psy.
  
  D., or Ed.D. preferred; MA/MS accepted with evidence of specialized experience and licensure.
• Advanced degree in marriage and family therapy, counseling, or a closely related field.
• Licensed as a LMFT or LPCC with experience in clinical practice and/or supervision.
• Minimum of one year of teaching experience in higher education preferred.
• Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to graduate‑level teaching.
• Knowledge of ways to instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students.
• Ability to integrate clinical training and experience into classroom instruction.
• Proficiency in Canvas and Workday online systems for student grading.
• Strong professional communication skills with students, educators, institutional representatives, and the public.
• Thorough commitment to PLNU’s religious and educational goals and a desire to work in a Christian university.
• Evidence of active Christian commitment and church involvement.
• Participation in PLNU’s Community Life Covenant.
