Responsibilities- Primary duties are related to curriculum and teaching; instructor is required to be available to students outside of class.
- Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
- Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
- Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
- Fulfill professional responsibilities as a part-time/temporary faculty member.
- Teach all scheduled classes.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages discussion of ideas, interests and issues.
- Master’s degree in Chicano Studies.
- Master’s in Ethnic Studies.
- Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.
- Equivalency applications accepted; submit Request for Equivalency Form if applicable.
- Foreign degrees evaluated by a professional association that is a member of NACES or ACEI.
- California Community College Instructor Credential in Ethnic Studies (valid for life) – considered an advantage.
- Commitment to diversity: demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
- Submit official college transcripts.
- Provide Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam (renewed every 4 years).
- Obtain Live Scan fingerprint clearance before first day.
- Present original documents proving eligibility to work in the United States.
Working Conditions:
Variable, depending on assignment.
Additional Information:
Employees may be transferred to any site at the discretion of the Chancellor.
