• Primary duties are related to curriculum and teaching; instructor is required to be available to students outside of class.
• Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
• Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
• Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
• Fulfill professional responsibilities as a part-time/temporary faculty member.
• Teach all scheduled classes.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages discussion of ideas, interests and issues.

• Master’s degree in Chicano Studies.
• Master’s in Ethnic Studies.
• Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.

• Equivalency applications accepted; submit Request for Equivalency Form if applicable.
• Foreign degrees evaluated by a professional association that is a member of NACES or ACEI.
• California Community College Instructor Credential in Ethnic Studies (valid for life) – considered an advantage.
• Commitment to diversity: demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.

• Submit official college transcripts.
• Provide Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam (renewed every 4 years).
• Obtain Live Scan fingerprint clearance before first day.
• Present original documents proving eligibility to work in the United States.

Working Conditions:

Variable, depending on assignment.

Employees may be transferred to any site at the discretion of the Chancellor.
