Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (non-credit)

Part‑time/temporary faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. These positions are as‑needed and require candidates to live within commuting distance to San Diego.

• Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
• Teach all scheduled classes, including lecture and lab classes as determined by the department.
• Be available to students outside of class.
• Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
• Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
• Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment that encourages free discussion of ideas, interests, and issues.

• Bachelor’s degree AND at least two (2) years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught.
• Associate degree AND at least six (6) years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught.
• Equivalent educational and occupational experience that meets the above criteria.
• Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds of continuing education students and staff.

• Equivalency documentation or a completed Request for Equivalency Form if the exact degree requirements have not yet been met.
• Foreign degree holders may submit an evaluation from a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) member or Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute (ACEI) professional association.

• Full‑time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in the subject matter.

• All applicants must demonstrate cultural competency and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and classified professionals.

• Submit official college transcripts prior to employment.
• Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam, renewed every four years.
• Undergo Live Scan fingerprinting at district expense; clearance must be received before first day of employment.
• Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
