Interdisciplinary Skills-English: Adjunct​/Substitute Instructor POOL; Non-Credit

Working Title:

Adjunct Faculty – The San Diego Community College District accepts applications for adjunct part‑time / substitute positions for our three campus sites and continuing education centers on a continuous basis. Candidates will be considered for assignments in fall, spring, and summer semesters based on institutional need.

• Deliver instruction in lecture or lab classes as assigned.
• Prepare and execute lessons in accordance with state curriculum and course outlines.
• Maintain professional conduct and stay current in subject matter.
• Be available to students outside of class.
• Keep accurate records of attendance, assignments, and grades.
• Create a learning environment that encourages discussion and critical thinking.

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, Comparative Literature, Composition, Linguistics, Speech, Creative Writing, or Journalism from a regionally accredited institution.
• OR Bachelor’s degree in any discipline and 12 semester units in teaching reading.
• OR possession of a full‑time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in the subject of the course.
• Equivalent qualifications must be evidenced by documented assessment or comparable experience.

Equivalency:
Candidates who have not yet completed the required degree but will meet the minimum qualifications by the start of teaching are encouraged to submit a Request for Equivalency Form and related documentation.

All applicants must demonstrate cultural competency and sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.

• Submission of official college transcripts.
• Certificate of Tuberculosis exam (renewable every 4 years).
• Fingerprint clearance prior to first day of employment.
• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
