San Diego State University (SDSU), a Carnegie-designated R1 research institution and federally recognized Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and Asian American Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI), seeks to hire a tenure-track Professor (Associate or Full Professor rank) with established expertise in Dissemination and Implementation (D&I) Science. Located along the U.S.

-Mexico border, SDSU serves one of the most culturally, ethnically, and linguistically diverse regions in the nation. The university is committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable academic community and seeks candidates whose research and community engagement contribute to improving health outcomes and reducing health disparities. The position is open to candidates across disciplines, with departmental home determined by the candidate's area of expertise.

We are particularly interested in dissemination and implementation scientists with a strong record of externally funded research, including support from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and a focus on health disparities research. In addition to serving as a faculty member, the candidate will serve as a core member and contributor to the SDSU Health LINK Center for Transdisciplinary Health Research (SDSU Health LINK Center).

As a National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities funded U54 Center, the SDSU Health LINK Center aims to promote a transdisciplinary approach to health research. For questions, please contact Dr. Elva Arredondo (Search Committee Chair) at earredon.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of independent funding, a strong publication record in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, and a nationally recognized research program. Candidates should have experience developing and sustaining meaningful partnerships with community organizations, health systems, public health agencies, and other community members and investigators to advance the uptake of evidence-based practices and research findings into real-world settings.

Candidates should demonstrate a record of effective teaching and mentorship at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as a commitment to service at the department/division, college, and university levels.

Required qualifications by date of application

Ph.D., M.D., or other terminal degree completed in a relevant discipline (e.g., public health, psychology, social work, human development, family science), with all degree requirements met.

Research and Scholarly Activities

Evidence of original research and scholarly achievements in the field of dissemination & implementation (D&I) science and demonstrated capacity to develop and grow a rigorous and independent program of D&I research and scholarship focused on health disparities at San Diego State University.

Demonstrated ability to develop, secure and sustain a strong, independent, and externally fundable research or scholarly program.

Demonstrated record of interdisciplinary and/or collaborative scholarship.

Teaching and Mentoring

Ability to teach effectively at undergraduate and/or graduate levels.

Record of mentorship, including guiding early career faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, and/or community collaborators.

Leadership, Service, and Professional Engagement

Demonstrated capacity to contribute to campus, community, and professional service.
