• 10 month itinerant assignment supporting multiple school sites. Regular travel to school sites throughout San Diego Unified School District.

Examples of Duties:

The Itinerant Central Office Resource Teacher – Assessment Specialistassigned to support Special Education Department is responsible for providing comprehensive academic assessment support to school sites and IEP teams and collaborate with school-site staff, multidisciplinary teams, families, and Special Education Department personnel. They will complete reassessments of students in the District’s ESN program who spend more than 50% of the time in a general education setting at elementary school sites to determine if a mild/moderate placement is appropriate.

The incumbent will also be expected to:

• Develop and implement individualized assessment plans for students referred for special education services.
• Coordinate with other IEP team members and related service providers to ensure comprehensive assessment of student needs.
• Conduct academic assessments for initial evaluations and triennial reviews.
• Analyze and interpret assessment results to identify student strengths and areas of need.
  
  Interpret assessment results and develop educationally relevant recommendations. Review existing data and integrate multiple sources of information to develop a comprehensive understanding of student needs.
• Prepare comprehensive academic assessment reports that clearly communicate assessment findings and educational recommendations.
• Present assessment results and recommendations during IEP meetings.
• Participate as an active member of multidisciplinary and IEP teams.
• Collaborate with general education and special education staff to support the development of appropriate educational programs and services.
• Provide consultation and technical assistance to school-site teams regarding academic assessment practices.
• Support school teams in interpreting assessment data and using information to inform instruction and student programming.
• Collaborate with families and educational staff in reviewing student data and determining educational needs to promote understanding of assessment results and recommendations.
• Schedule and coordinate assessment appointments with school sites, families, and appropriate team members.
