Automation Engineer – Production Line (Cotton Acoustic Tiles)
Permanent employee, Full-time
· Italy (Mezzago)
Your mission

We are launching a completely new, highly automated production line for manufacturing cotton-based acoustic tiles — including automation systems that have never existed before. To operate, refine, and continuously improve this innovative setup, we are looking for a hands-on, technically skilled Automation Engineer
.

In this role, you will become the heart of the automation: the person who understands, drives, and shapes the entire automated production process from day one.

Process Ownership & Optimization

  • Analyse, define, and optimize automated production processes across the cotton tile line.
  • Develop process parameters, SOPs, and quality frameworks to ensure stable and efficient automated operation.
  • Identify automation bottlenecks and implement continuous improvement measures (LEAN, OEE focus).

Automation Supervision & First-Level Technical Support

  • Oversee the entire automated production flow — from raw material handling to finished tiles.
  • Provide hands-on first-level support for automation components (PLC, sensors, actuators, robotics, HMI).
  • Work closely with automation engineers, integrators, and suppliers during commissioning and system upgrades.

Daily Production Management

  • Monitor system performance, process stability, and output quality in real time.
  • Support and coordinate production staff working alongside automated systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Documentation & Knowledge Building

  • Create process and automation documentation for a system that is being built for the first time.
  • Establish internal know-how and train future operators and technicians.
  • Serve as the internal expert and “owner of the line.”
Your profile

Background & Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in technical roles within automated production environments.
  • Experience in paper production, fiber processing, or related industries is a plus.
  • Knowledge of CAD software and basic understanding of PLC automation.
  • Languages:

    Italian & English required;
    German is an advantage.

Required Competencies & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of automated production systems, robotics, and industrial equipment.
  • Hands-on ability to perform technical interventions, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
  • Experience in process optimization and mold/tooling development.
  • Familiarity with robotic handling, conveyor systems, and automated drying technologies.
  • Solid understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance practices.
  • Analytical mindset with fast, well‑founded decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with internal teams and external suppliers.
Why us?
  • You will work on a brand-new, one-of-a-kind automated production line.
  • You become the central expert powering the success of the line — the “heart of the automation.”
  • High impact, close collaboration with leadership, engineering, and R&D.
  • A purpose-driven company committed to sustainable design and acoustic solutions
  • Innovative product portfolio and strong design reputation in the market
  • International team, flat hierarchies, and a hands-on, entrepreneurial work culture
