You are located at the interface of Oura Manufacturing, R&D, and Supply Chain. You will work alongside our Global Manufacturing teams, R&D Engineering teams and CM factories to develop and ramp NPI programs, supporting the mission critical goal of quality and quantity. As an SMT Engineer you will feel comfortable working hands-on at the factory floor and ensuring Oura machinery runs reliably and produces good quality products to Oura customers.

This is a hybrid role that requires 3 days a week in either our San Francisco or San Diego office.

What You will do:
  • Own the SMT component manufacturing and assembly processes by working between manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and design functions to implement world-class SMT solutions for current and future OURA products
  • This includes setting specifications on critical to quality characteristics to improve product performance and implementing robust IQC/OQC standardization
  • Evaluate the supply chain footprint with regards to integration of SMT to FATP
  • Assess the current structure and advise on the input of SMT components to SMT manufacturing; this includes providing input to design on current and future products on recommended processes to be included (such as underfill)
  • Review and improve process capability at both the SMT component and ring assembly supply chain nodes, including standardization of best practices
  • Work with the Quality function to understand current and projected field failure rates, then propose and implement solutions to improve field performance to enhance the customer experience
  • Make assessments on the capability of current and potential future vendors to influence the supply chain strategy for current and future products
  • Collaborate closely with process, design, and automation engineers to evaluate key processes for automation based on criticality to design and supply requirements
  • Work independently and prioritize workload with travel required for up to 25% of the time
  • Report the performance of the processes to NPI program and Oura Manufacturing team.
We would love to have You on our team if you have:
  • Proven track record working in/with consumer electronics manufacturing. Hands on experience of electronics assembly processes, and collaboration with factories.
  • Experience in miniaturized product designs.
  • Experience in contributing to product design (DFM), design of manufacturing tooling and manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process parameters and statistical process control as well as experience in developing and fine-tuning process control methods and improving yields.
  • You work collaboratively and effectively in a complex environment and with cross-functional teams, external parties, and factories.
  • Systematic and organized way of working. You effectively identify and set priorities for the tasks at hand.

  • Possibility and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time; both internationally and domestic
