As a Geophysicist II
, you will play a key role in uncovering and interpreting subsurface conditions that inform critical environmental, geotechnical, resource exploration, and construction decisions. In this role, you will apply non‑destructive geophysical methods to evaluate soil and rock properties, analyze and compile geophysical data, and translate findings into clear, actionable insights. Your work will directly support project planning and design by reducing uncertainty and helping mitigate future project risks through well‑developed geophysical evaluations and reports.
Responsibilities
- Assists with planning and preparing for conducting geophysical studies, in conjunction with other Geophysicists.
- Conducts field studies under direct supervision of higher‑level team members. Carries out geophysical data acquisition pertaining to contrasts in the earth's physical properties or the properties of man‑made structures within the earth utilizing geophysical data collection techniques that measure the physical properties of the subsurface. These properties include, but are not limited to seismic velocities, electrical resistivity, electrical conductivity, magnetics, electromagnetics, gravity, etc.
- Performs geophysical data management with meticulous notes. Evaluates data in real‑time and processes data to conduct quality control in the field and conducts post‑processing of field data for presentation in geophysical reports.
- Adheres to organizational Geophysical Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and all applicable regulatory guidance when conducting geophysical evaluations.
- Creates maps, figures, charts, and tables to present collected geophysical data for presentation to the client.
- Writes technical reports including maps, figures, charts, and tables of collected geophysical data.
- Improves job knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state‑of‑the‑art practices, and participating in professional development.
- Bachelor's degree in Geophysics, Geology, Earth Science, or Engineering
- 1-2 years' experience
- Basic awareness of problem solving and decision making
- Basic awareness of digital literacy skills
