Position Overview

We are seeking a Staff Engineer – Algorithms R&D to join our rapidly growing team. You will be at the heart of our efforts to develop a high‑throughput and optimized bioinformatic pipeline from sample to answer. You will design, develop and implement critical algorithms for processing images, estimating parameters, correcting signals, making decisions, and characterizing data quality. Working with the rest of our diverse team, you will apply your background in image processing, signal processing, statistical methods and data analysis to propose novel workflows, optimize known algorithms, and identify and troubleshoot system‑level issues.

You will implement algorithms using GPU‑accelerated computation and use profiling techniques to meet demanding timing requirements. The problems that we will overcome are varied and subtle, requiring a combination of creative thinking and thoughtful implementation of well‑known mathematical techniques. The ideal candidate is an informatic polyglot – able and willing to contribute to a diverse set of challenges ranging from raw data processing to Bayesian statistical inference.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop novel algorithms and implement existing algorithms in novel ways to optimize throughput and quality of biological detection systems.
  • Apply advanced signal‑processing techniques to maximize accuracy and minimize systematic bias.
  • Optimize data pipelines for speed and cost using GPU‑accelerated computation.
  • Develop metrics and diagnostics to guide the work of the hardware and chemistry teams and give them key insights into the results of their experiments.
  • Develop models and simulations to assist hardware and chemistry teams in identifying areas for improvement and defining next‑generation systems.
Qualifications Education
  • BS, MS or PhD in Biophysics, Physics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.
Minimum Qualifications
  • BS and 8+ years, MS and 6+ years, or PhD and 3+ years of experience in genomics, spatial biology, proteomics, single‑molecule detection, or related fields.
  • Experience with GPU‑accelerated computation (CUDA, RAPIDS, etc.).
  • Experience developing image processing or signal processing algorithms in biological applications.
  • Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, C++ or similar language and high‑performance computing frameworks.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross‑functionally with optical, mechanical, and chemistry engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques for image processing, channel optimization, or related areas.
  • Familiarity with high‑resolution optical systems and associated data pipelines.
  • Experience implementing algorithms in embedded or on‑instrument environments.
  • Record of innovation through publications, patents or open‑source contributions.
Why Join Us
  • Influence the foundational technologies and strategies of a company poised to shape the future of clinical genomics and healthcare.
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative environment where innovation and scientific rigor are deeply valued.
  • Join a seasoned and multidisciplinary team tackling high‑impact problems at the intersection of science and engineering.
  • Competitive compensation and equity package, comprehensive benefits, and flexibility to support work‑life integration.

We are an equal opportunity employer. We thrive on diversity and collaboration.
