The Snapdragon chipsets push power and thermal limits in the Compute (laptop/tablet) market. Qualcomm Low Power SOC technology is central to a Compute solution, presenting challenges in extending battery life and thermal sustainability while achieving high performance within device thermal envelopes. This role focuses on software approaches to optimize battery life and performance in today’s premium compute devices. Join the Windows Power team to improve battery life across real-world workloads such as Browser, Gaming, Productivity, Social Media, Streaming, AI/ML, and Device Standby across 5G and Wi-Fi connectivity.
The position is for an Embedded Software Engineer with expertise in Windows OS software and a good understanding of ARM-based SoC architecture and digital systems. You will work on cutting-edge power management solutions for Qualcomm Snapdragon processors.
- Lead Snapdragon Premium Tier Chipset and perform deep OS-level optimization on the latest Windows OS.
- Develop software features to improve power and performance; collaborate with hardware and software teams to identify and commercialize new hardware/software features.
- Algorithmic improvements to Windows kernel resource management (e.g., scheduler task placement, resource scaling, power management of various hardware IPs); develop simulation models for rapid prototyping of software features.
- Extend device analytics tools and platforms to understand real-world usage of Snapdragon hardware/platforms.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related experience; or Master’s degree with 1+ year; or PhD in related field.
- 2+ years of academic or work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
- Programming and technical skills: C, C++, Python, Windows device drivers, ARM Assembly, JTAG.
- Windows and Windows Kernel development, software programs, digital systems, computer organization/architecture.
- Strong understanding of Windows OS and its internals.
- Experience with data analytics tools and Python libraries like Pandas, Num Py is a plus.
