Summary:
The Multimedia Camera HW Architecture team is looking for an experienced and talented Architect. The architecture group consists of hardware, software and systems engineers who are driving the analysis and definition of next-generation architectures for our Camera Image Signal Processing (ISP) design for the smartphone and other product categories across Qualcomm’s roadmap. We have an exciting & dynamic technical position available with a focus on architecture specification and analysis for real-silicon hardware performance, power, and area.
The successful candidate will engage collaboratively with core HW design, verification, SW, systems, marketing, and product planning teams to:
- Architect market-leading mobile camera ISP design with best-in-class performance and power
- Conduct hands‑on hardware performance, power, and area tradeoffs to help define our ISP architecture
- Collaborate with HW and SW teams to define best-in-class multimedia system design
- Perform algorithm‑to‑hardware decomposition for image processing features
- Define HW micro‑architecture (buffering, pipelining, tiling, parallelism) with explicit PPA tradeoffs
- Apply computer architecture knowledge of CPUs, GPUs, DSPs, cache coherency, bus interconnect, MMU and memory/bandwidth analysis
- HW/SW Co‑design including collaborate closely with algorithm, firmware, and software teams to restructure algorithms for better hardware efficiency, define HW/SW partitioning, enable scalable designs without excessive area/power cost
- Effectively communicate experimental results, review with technical leads and peers and analyze outstanding issues
- Creatively overcome obstacles to obtain the answers to architectural questions
- Invent and file patents on technical solutions to relevant problems
Position is based in San Diego, CA and open across levels of 4‑8 yrs experience.
Minimum Skills- Experience in system or chipset development for SoC products, preferably in the mobile market
- Experience in multimedia HW development (imaging, video, display, audio, sensors etc) and ML/AI accelerators
- Experience with OS principles and HW/SW interaction
- Experience with SoC, bus interconnect, and memory technologies
- MS Degree Required with 2+ years industry experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Hands‑on experience in using and modifying simulators and performance/power models, especially full‑system models
- Experience in VLSI design and verification
- Experience in C/C++/System
