InDepth is currently seeking a full-time exempt Geophysicist I with at least one year of field experience as an addition to our Geophysical Division for our San Diego, CA office. The role of a Geophysicist I is a scientific field geophysicist responsible for data acquisition and equipment maintenance using scientific methods in the field. The Geophysicist I will perform data acquisition, maintain daily field notes, and distribute data for further processing in support of both conventional geophysics and advanced geophysical classification services, while regularly exercising independent judgment and discretion.
InDepth has currently adopted a 4/10 schedule for in-office days and subject to change at any time. Must be located or willing to relocate to San Diego, CA within a month from date of hire. Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Perform Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC) geophysical field activities
- Perform field based geophysical and GPS data acquisition using scientific methods
- Maintain field equipment before, during, and after data acquisition activities
- Document daily field activities and daily distribution of field data
- Proactive and collaborative team leadership and troubleshooting
- Data-processing activities and reporting
- Equipment organization and inventory
- Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Geophysics, Geology, Environmental Science, Earth Science, or closely related field
Work Experience:
- 1-3 years of professional field experience
Qualifications and Skills:
- MMRP Industry experience
- Attention to detail, positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Strong communicator and leadership qualities
- Problem solving skills and mechanically inclined
- Understanding of electrical circuits
- Coding and computer programming scripts (python, etc.)
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER
- Travel: 75-85% of time with overnight stays for extended project durations ranging from 3-6 months at a time throughout the US, driven by Client project schedules
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, and modified schedules
