Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support chemistry lab production, engineering and R&D activities.
Perform wet chemical processes to produce monomers, polymers and polymer devices including cleaning and set‑up of reaction glassware, conducting chemical reactions, isolation and characterization of chemical products.
Assist with the design of and perform wet chemistry experiment protocols and write technical summaries including lab notebook entries with detailed records.
Perform in process and design testing.
Prepare samples and solutions for instrumental analysis such as TGA, DSC, GPC, etc.
Perform process qualification testing and inspections when required.
Assist in establishing analytical quality limits for polymer products.
Assist in maintenance of the laboratory by organizing and ordering supplies, housekeeping and maintaining equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet company goals.
Education and/or ExperienceBS/BA in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering and 5+ years of industrial experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Background in organic chemistry and synthetic polymer chemistry is highly preferred.
Knowledge of polymer processing and analyses is desirable.
Experience in the operation of basic lab equipment and general chemical lab safety is required.
Clean room/medical device manufacturing experience and familiarity with ISO 9001 or GMP/GLP documentation/processes is desirable.
Required Knowledge/SkillsExperienced in executing synthetic chemical reactions.
Possesses a broad knowledge of organic/polymer synthetic process, procedures and analyses.
Ability to contribute to the design and development of new monomers and polymers.
Good organizational skills.
Flexible, willing to take on a variety of tasks.
