Duties
* You will plan, coordinate and conduct advanced air vehicle engineering work of such breadth that it requires planning and developing in several phases, each involving the development or origination of modified or new technical approach/solutions.
* You will conduct and solve specific, difficult air vehicle engineering issues requiring substantial analysis and extensive technical investigation to evaluate causes, effects and alternatives.
* You will coordinate the technical research of serious and complex air vehicle engineering issues (e.g. solving uncommanded pitch inputs from unknown sources or coordinating technical aspects of service life extension efforts).
* You will conduct and solve broadly defined air vehicle engineering problems that require modification or adaptation of, or compromise with, standard guides, procedures, methods and techniques and/or which require special consideration.
* You will apply a thorough knowledge of a variety of guides, precedents, methods, techniques, and practices as well as innovative processes in order to solve air vehicle engineering problems.
* You will conduct state-of-the-art engineering analyses and investigations to support in-service engineering repair, overhaul, modification, operation, maintenance, manufacture and to improve reliability and maintainability.
* You will identify, plan, evaluate and prescribe corrective action for air vehicle deficiencies/incidents of significant proportions reported through appropriate reporting systems to improve accuracy and economy.
* You will head, coordinate and/or participate in meetings and conferences convened to discuss air vehicle engineering issues, problems, design and development of new and/or upgraded air vehicles and systems.
* You will provide guidance in the form of training, professional development, and mentorship for the FST Structures branch by working, reviewing, and possessing the necessary agency empowerment to directly release work products. Requirements Conditions of employment

* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition
Functional Area
and category assigned to the position is required within established category time frames.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) planning and coordinating engineering investigations and studies independently;
2) planning, coordinating, and solving specific, difficult air vehicle engineering issues requiring substantial analysis and evaluation of causes, effects, and alternatives;
