Role: Production Test Technician
Location: San Diego, CA (in-office)
Salary Range: $71,000-$80,000 + stock options, 401k matching, and other benefits
Role OverviewWe’re looking for a hands‑on Production Test Technician to bring our autonomous vehicles to life by configuring, testing, and validating onboard computer and electronics assemblies. This role sits at the intersection of manufacturing, test, and engineering, and plays a key part in ensuring vehicle hardware is reliable, repeatable, and ready for real‑world deployment. You’ll prepare vehicle CPU boxes and other electronics for the field by flashing images and firmware, loading configuration files, running functional and acceptance tests, and documenting your findings.
You’ll work closely with engineers to track down issues, capture diagnostics, and continuously improve our production and test processes as we scale.
- Follow instructions to flash OS images, firmware binaries, and configuration files onto vehicle computers, embedded controllers, sensors, and networking hardware
- Configure and provision electronics assemblies for vehicle integration
- Execute functional and acceptance tests using defined procedures
- Identify, troubleshoot, and document hardware or software failures
- Capture test results, logs, and build records; clearly communicate issues to engineering
- Maintain and improve test setups, checklists, and production documentation
- Support inventory tracking, labeling, and version tracking of hardware and software builds
- At least 1 year of work experience in a test lab or manufacturing environment
- Ability to independently follow technical setup instructions, including imaging computers, installing operating systems, and troubleshooting common setup issues
- Strong attention to process, with the ability to execute documented procedures and clearly record results, deviations, and failures
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Experience supporting fast‑paced production for robotics, automotive, aerospace, or marine systems
- Experience working with Linux‑based systems (basic command line usage)
- Basic understanding of networking, serial interfaces, or embedded systems
- Exposure to hardware bring‑up and/or test automation
