Position SummaryWe are currently seeking a Network Engineer III to support secure network engineering operations within a Department of Defense test, integration, and evaluation environment. The role focuses on designing, configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and assessing network infrastructure for mission, lab, and engineering activities across complex environments. Strong CANES experience, including sustainment and support of CANES Hardware Variant 1.2 and 3.0 and Agile Core Services (ACS), is essential.
The engineer will also contribute to integration, modernization efforts, and provide technical input during technical interchange meetings. The successful candidate will independently evaluate complex technical conditions, apply sound engineering judgment, and develop effective solutions to maintain operational continuity, support mission objectives, and meet cybersecurity and compliance requirements.
- Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and assess network infrastructure supporting CANES Hardware 1.2, Software 3, CANES Hardware 3, Software 5, and Agile Core Services (ACS).
- Support CANES and ACS sustainment, system maintenance, troubleshooting, technical refresh, and operational readiness within an established baseline.
- Support integration, testing, validation, and fielding of new CANES capabilities and added functionality into existing environments.
- Configure and troubleshoot routed and switched network infrastructure in a CANES environment, including routing, switching, VLANs, segmentation, and secure enclave connectivity.
- Support boundary defense, secure transport, and access control technologies used alongside CANES, such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, TACLANE or VPN‑type encryption, and related secure communications controls.
- Support ADNS sustainment, troubleshooting, baseline management, and configuration changes required to support operational needs and potential project efforts.
- Support virtualization and infrastructure platforms impacting CANES operations, including VMware, ESXi, vCenter, Hyper‑V, Windows Server, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux, as applicable.
- Analyze technical issues, determine root cause and operational impact, and implement effective corrective actions to maintain operational continuity and mission support.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, including diagrams, configurations, implementation details, interface documentation, troubleshooting guides, and engineering support records.
- Attend technical interchange meetings and other engineering forums and provide subject‑matter expertise where applicable.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, systems administration, engineering, and leadership teams to support mission, compliance, and integration requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in networking, computer science, cybersecurity, information systems, or a closely related discipline.
OR
- Equivalent specialized knowledge customarily acquired through a combination of military training, formal technical instruction, certifications, and substantial progressively responsible practical experience performing work of comparable scope, complexity, and independent judgment.
- Security+ (DoD IAT Level II) or ability to meet requirements within six months of employment.
- CCNA (or higher).
- This position requires an existing U.S. Government DoD granted security clearance/eligibility at the final Secret level, a favorably adjudicated T5/T5R background investigation, and U.S. citizenship. Individuals must maintain security requirements for continued employment.
