Primary
Purpose:
Leads complex studies and planning initiatives that optimize transmission system capacity and resilience. Applies specialized knowledge to influence project design and operational strategies, ensuring alignment with corporate reliability goals. Shapes transmission planning methodologies and operational frameworks to address evolving system needs. Provides authoritative technical guidance that informs strategic investment decisions and supports organizational growth objectives.
This role will focus on developing detailed transmission design packages, PLS-CADD modeling, performs advanced technical evaluations and develops solutions that improve transmission system reliability and efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participates in the Base Case Development Process by reviewing and developing electrical simulation models for transmission lines and substations.
- Conducts power flow and transient stability analyses to ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC), and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission(FERC).
- Prepares technical studies and justifications for capacity and reliability projects within the electric transmission system.
- Performs generator interconnection studies and develops comprehensive reports for new generation projects.
- Utilizes advanced power system analysis tools to simulate, model, and analyze transmission system performance.
- Identifies and recommends enhancements to analytical tools and methodologies to optimize transmission planning and scenario analysis.
- Anticipates strategic project sites and routes by replicating Independent System Operator (ISO) studies and analyzing system needs to propose effective transmission solutions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Requires a 4 year degree in a relevant engineering field.
- Typically requires 8 years of related experience.
