Job Summary
Construction Engineer with the County of San Diego will serve as Resident Engineer and perform engineering duties on large and complex construction contracts for Capital Improvement Projects, Landfill, Road Projects, or Private Development. The role may involve monitoring contractor stormwater pollution prevention plans and working across several divisions within the Department of Public Works and Planning & Development Services.
Responsibilities- Serve as Resident Engineer on construction contracts.
- Perform engineering duties on large and complex construction contracts.
- Monitor implementation of contractor stormwater pollution prevention plans.
- Review plans and provide corrections, coordinate project design, and explain engineering and code specifications to the public.
- Review large-scale flood control design and construction projects, respond to public and private drainage inquiries, and manage flood control facilities.
- Respond to public referrals of unpermitted right-of-way encroachments and private property watercourse obstructions.
- Inspect large-scale permitted utility and private development projects.
Some positions may require a Qualified Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) Developer (QSD) and/or a Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP) certificate within one year of appointment.
Additional RequirementsBackground check (including fingerprinting) and pre-employment medical screening are required. Current County employees may be exempt from additional background screening.
