Position Summary
Life Cycle Engineering is seeking highly qualified candidates to join a team providing engineering and fleet technical services for the Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) Combat System Alignment program. This role will support and assist SWRMC's alignment team in delivering comprehensive alignment services for all aspects of Combat System and Navigation System Alignments on US Navy vessels.
Security Clearance Requirements- U.S. citizenship required
- Active U.S. DoD Secret security clearance required (Security clearance eligibility may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.)
- Setup and properly operate alignment equipment (Theodolites, Clinometers, measuring tapes, and Shipboard placement markers AIDS, TAS and DIDS)
- Exhibit in depth knowledge on centerline transfers, roller‑path determinations using sine curves.
- Operate equipment to demonstrate either proper function or to analyze discrepancies using data obtained during various stages of the Combat Systems alignment.
- Apply Combat System alignment principles and theory, including math and geometry involving rectangular graphs and plots and polar coordinate plots.
- Coordinate efforts with others involved in installing and maintaining equipment or components.
- Perform in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
- Conduct Fleet Technical Assistance on-site or via distance support as required, to include engineering/technical evaluations, equipment functional checks, troubleshooting, test, analysis and equipment repair as tasked.
- Conduct Assessments, Inspections, and Grooms determining equipment condition and out‑of‑specification settings.
- Observe operation of the equipment by ship's force.
- Assist Ship's Force technicians and government personnel at assigned locations to analyze and resolve malfunctions detected during equipment operation and test.
- Analyze and review inspection data to determine source of fault, and recommend repair, replacement, or other corrective action.
- Work independently executing shipboard system troubleshooting, conducting root cause analysis of failures, performing functional and operations system and equipment assessments and inspections.
- Provide over‑the‑shoulder and hands‑on training of ship's force personnel in the operation, maintenance, and logistics support of specific equipment.
- Prepare written debriefs to ship's force and SWRMC managers or other designated Government representatives, in accordance with the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) and Technical Assistance Visit Report (TAVR).
- Support and use current Government software systems to track problems associated with equipment/systems, and for system analysis, including Tech Assist, Assessments & Scheduling Information (TAAS‑Info) and Maintenance Figure of Merit/Navy Maintenance Database (MFOM/NMD) systems.
- Effectively complete assigned tasks with little or no supervision.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and fulfill job requirements as directed by management.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid US Driver's License.
- Valid US Passport.
- Minimum of five years hand‑on experience working with Combat System Alignments on all classes of Navy ships and submarines.
- Formal trade school for introductory for performance and optical alignment.
- Experience with and understanding of NAVSEA AEGIS Weapons System Alignment Adaptation Data standard operating procedures.
- Experience with complex blueprints, diagrams, sketches and symbols, electrical materials and equipment.
- Must possess an understanding of the requirements of SW225‑AO‑MMA‑010 OP762 ALIGN Theory, Theory of Combat System Alignment.
- Must be familiar with various terms relating to foundation flatness, roller‑path, parallelism, and co‑planer requirements by reviewing the referenced foundation drawings.
- Proficient in electrical terms, definitions, abbreviations and ship's layout.
- Knowledge of where to find the alignment requirements.
