Overview
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks an Electronics Engineer / Principal Electronics Engineer (Comms Responsible Engineer) to join our Avionics Integration Organization in Rancho Bernardo, CA. The role is on‑site and may offer hybrid telework at the manager’s discretion. Travel up to 25% of the time and relocation assistance may be available. A US Secret clearance is required;
DoD Top Secret clearance is preferred.
- Research, design, develop, integrate and test electronic equipment and systems including RF datalinks, SATCOM and communications networks.
- Maintain complex RF communication architectures, systems, circuitry components, analog and digital computers.
- Report communication status to program managers and IPT management.
- Serve as the primary responsible engineer for a complex communications subsystem, supplier technical interface, and focal IPT representative for integration support.
- Electronics Engineer:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 2 years of related engineering experience; OR master’s degree in a STEM discipline. - Principal Electronics Engineer:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR master’s degree and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR PhD and 1 year of related engineering experience. - Must have airborne or ground platform integration experience.
- Active DoD Top Secret clearance.
- Strong understanding of networking strategies including TCP/IP & WAN architectures.
- Familiar with routers, firewalls, switches, and current network products.
- RF and digital system design & analysis.
- Antenna theory and operation.
- Wideband and narrow band communications integration and testing (Iridium, INMARSAT, Ku, CDL, Starlink).
- Airborne platform radio integration (e.g., ARCs).
- System performance verification and component qualifications for flight.
- System engineering, requirements derivation, design documentation (Visio, Catia, interconnects, rack elevations).
Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800 - $137,600. Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000 - $171,000. Salary is determined by scope, experience, education and market conditions. Eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long‑term incentives for senior positions.
