Tour Engine, Inc. (TEI) a mid-level Controls and Electrical Systems Engineer to join our team developing advanced engine and hybrid electric stationary power generation systems. This role combines engine controls development with electrical system design and integration across 12V and 48V subsystems. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally to deliver a reliable, efficient and safe hybrid platform for next-generation distributed power applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and calibrate MATLAB/Simulink control models on embedded ECUs for engine and hybrid electric power generation systems to optimize performance, efficiency, and reliability
- Design, select, and validate 12V and 48V electrical architectures, including wire harness, sensors, battery systems, inverters, DC/DC converters and CAN networks
- Support existing Lab View data acquisition and control systems
- Collaborate with mechanical and testing teams
- Support prototype commissioning, validation and troubleshooting at partner and customer sites (approximately 10-20% travel)
Qualifications:
- BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering (or related field)
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in relevant control system development
- Proficient in MATLAB/Simulink for model-based control design and code generation
- Experience with LabVIEW or other graphical programming and data acquisition tools
- Strong analytical, documentation and cross-functional communication skills
Tour Engine, Inc. (TEI) is seeking candidates for the position of Durability Development Engineer at its San Diego, CA headquarters. The successful candidate will focus on the durability development of TEI’s innovative split-cycle internal combustion engines. This role involves overseeing specific tests in TEI’s state‑of‑the‑art engine test cell and conducting post‑test data analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and manage durability tests within the engine test cell
- Perform post-test data analysis and reporting
- Support in planning, documentation, and time management of tests
- Investigate wear patterns, oil analysis, and temperature measurements
- Provide technical support for pilot projects in the field
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (BSME) required; graduate studies preferred
- 2+ years of durability development experience in an engine or university laboratory
- Proficiency with tribological test equipment and standard testing procedures (e.g., surface roughness testers, 3‑D profilometers, hardness testers, oil viscosity testers)
- Knowledge in interpreting wear patterns, oil consumption measurement, and temperature monitoring
- Mechanical engineering experience with a focus on combustion engines, material science, surface coatings, and design of experiments required
- Familiarity with sealing and oil control of engine power cylinders and their impact on emissions is highly desirable
- Project management experience is a plus
