Duties
* You will provide technical leadership to artisans performing aircraft field service repairs, modifications, and rework of aircraft structures and components.
* You will overhaul, repair, and modify complex aerospace fittings and structural components by interpreting blueprints, local engineering specifications, and engineering dispositions.
* You will use precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, and bore gauges) to execute high-tolerance machining operations in accordance with aerospace specifications.
* You will conduct multifaceted dimensional and structural inspections on aircraft modules, including flight control surfaces, wing structures, pylons, and landing gear assemblies.
* You will remove, design, fabricate, and install precision-fit bushings and sleeve assemblies on various complex aircraft modules and structures.
* You will set up, program, and safely operate manual mill and lathe machinery to manufacture replacement parts from specialized aerospace alloys (e.g., titanium, aluminum, and stainless steel).
* You will apply in-depth working knowledge and understanding of metals to choose proper tooling, set machine speeds, and conduct approved heat treatments.
* You will maintain compliance with aviation safety protocols, tool control programs, and quality assurance standards to ensure zero-defect production.
* You will utilize trade mathematics to accomplish a variety of machining and aircraft projects.

* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
* This position may require rotating shift work and overtime.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes, as required.
* Work requires standing for long periods, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and working in strained and awkward positions.
* This position requires exposure to high noise levels. Also, this position is subject to various noise levels that occasionally exceeds 85 DBA.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* You will be required to lift and carry objects up to 40 pounds without assistance, and over 40 pounds with assistance from other workers.
* Due to frequent or infrequent travel and complexity of the mission, the selectee may be exposed to long or irregular work hours during travel and at their final destination.
* The incumbent must participate in a medical surveillance program for noise, sight, respirator, and hand/arm vibration.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain the required levels of certification and/or training.
