DescriptionProvides engineering and technical support to plan, schedule, coordinate and execute the full life cycle commissioning of critical facilities on a labor contract value of under $10,000. Participates in the MEP design process; witnesses the static and dynamic testing of complex mechanical, electrical and controls systems and operates the system in normal, maintenance and failure modes of operations by performing the following duties.
- Performs Test Procedures.
- Prepare meeting minutes.
- Work with fundamental test equipment.
- Interacts with contractors, interprets design and specifications.
- Knowledge of engineering principles.
- Basic knowledge of your principle (mechanical or electrical).
- Knowledge of electrical or mechanical system from operations point of view.
- Electrical Discipline should be comfortable working around live components, three phase AC Power Systems and Direct Current (DC) power systems. Mechanical Discipline should be comfortable working with chilled water distribution and commercial HVAC systems.
- Ability to interact/work professionally with client.
- Conducts site observation surveys and prepares field reports on the status of projects and completion of projects with respect to compliance to the plans and specifications.
- Prepares punch list reports and determines corrective measures for on-site problems.
- Prepares general condition survey reports.
- Familiarizes oneself with codes, local project regulations, construction practices and the latest equipment functional concepts.
- Familiarizes oneself and obeys all the projects safety requirements including specific on-site regulations.
- Performs routine calculations.
- Participates in professional trade associations and societies.
- Acts as project coordinator with other field engineers, coordinating printing, presentation and administration procedures.
- Reviews shop drawings and submittals.
- Develops MEP test procedures.
- Develops MEP operating procedures.
- Responds to RFIs when requested by PM Team.
- Performs various administrative duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer
Skills:
Knowledge of Microsoft Word;
Microsoft Excel and Deltek.
Education/
Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.
A. /
B. S.) from a four‑year college or university; two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Equipment: Electrical testing equipment.
Physical Demands: The employee is regularly required to use hands and hear. Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; talk and taste or smell. Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: Frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. Occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places; outdoor weather conditions and vibration. Noise level is usually loud.
Work Schedule: This position may entail working more than 8 hours a day, and potentially working on Saturday or Sunday depending on project assignments.
