Position: Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG)

Position Title:
Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG)

Salary: $55–$70/hour DOE

We are a well-established engineering consulting firm seeking a Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG) to lead complex fault investigations, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior professionals, and contribute to projects shaping communities across California.

Geologist CEG LA Responsibilities
  • Prepare proposals and geotechnical reports.
  • Conduct fault trenching to assess active fault lines and recommend site improvements.
  • Perform CPT fault studies that include shallow groundwater analysis.
  • Collaborate with grading contractors to facilitate project progress.
  • Respond to client inquiries and communicate technical concepts in an understandable manner.
  • Engage with developers, landscape architects, structural engineers, and civil engineers.
  • Manage projects with minimal oversight while demonstrating responsible judgment.
  • Support marketing efforts to attract new clients.
  • Write technical reports and maintain project documentation.
Geologist CEG LA Requirements
  • 5‑10+ years of experience in environmental consulting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology.
  • CEG certification or currently in the process of obtaining it.
  • Experience with fault trenching and groundwater studies.
  • Ability to perform hands‑on fieldwork and crawl in/out of trenches.
  • Proficient in Excel and technologically adept.
  • Valid California driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for site travel.
  • Experience working with local and state agencies.
  • Experience writing phase one and phase two reports is preferred.
