Substation Designer

Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI), a leading power engineering consultant firm, is seeking a motivated individual to join our San Diego or Ontario, CA office as a designer.

ECI specializes in engineering services to electric utilities (substation, protection, transmission), alternative energy systems, communication, oil/gas, mining and heavy industry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing electrical and physical design work for electrical substations ranging from 12 kV to 500 kV.

• Perform substation electrical and physical design work and, when required, drafting for assigned projects;
• Support other projects as required;
• Resolve AutoCAD software operating issues;
• Establish AutoCAD environments per client requirements.

• College degree or two‑year technical certificate in computer‑aided drafting/design and a minimum of 15 years of computer‑aided drafting and designer experience.
• Advanced computer skills and expert in the use, operation and maintenance of AutoCAD.
• Sound operating knowledge of Micro Station is preferred.
• Proven effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Results oriented and capable of completing design assignments with minimal direction and effective in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills, able to interface with team members and clients.
• Strong work ethic with attention to detail, quality, schedule and budget.
• Occasional travel/driving may be required.
• Must not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H‑1B) now or in the future.
• Subject to ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements.

Compensation Range: $45.00/hr – $71.00/hr.
