Responsibilities
- Ensure effective use of material, equipment and personnel in producing quality products at minimum cost
- Provide guidance regarding design for manufacturability
- DFM/DFA reviews & feedback to design
- Assembly process feasibility assessment
- BOM review & manufacturing alignment
- Drawing & specification interpretation
- Engineering change order (ECO) review & implementation
- Prototype & pre‑production build support
- Assembly process development & optimization
- Assembly tooling & fixture design / procurement
- First production build support & issue resolution
- Determine and specify requirements for special assembly machines, equipment and tooling
- Torque, adhesive & critical process parameter control
- Operator training material development
- Continuous improvement & cost reduction initiatives
- Manufacturing transfer package preparation to include Standardized Work Instructions for off‑site Asia manufacturing facilities
- Tooling & fixture documentation packages
- BOM & configuration control for transfer
- Asia site launch readiness assessment to include on‑site launch support, ramp assistance and operator & technician training delivery
- ECO change communication & update management
- Post‑launch issue support & sustaining documentation
- Schedule and implement process improvements focused on defect reduction, cost reduction and assembly optimization throughout the manufacturing process
- Manage utilization of SPC data to direct process improvement focus of the Manufacturing Engineering department
- Responsible for supervision, guidance and technical support for the Manufacturing Engineering department
- Education:
Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering (master’s degree often preferred) - Experience:
Minimum of five years’ applicable experience in the production and testing of electromechanical assemblies - Technical Expertise:
Deep understanding of quality control fundamentals like GD&T, SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies - Skills/Technical Requirements:
Experience with workflow processes in the fabrication, assembly and testing of electromechanical systems and components; intimate working knowledge of statistical process control methods; knowledge of design for manufacturability principles; must be computer literate; excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
