Materials Engineer

Position Description

You will serve as a MATERIALS ENGINEER in the AIR VEHICLE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, MATERIALS ENGINEERING DIVISION of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

• You will be required to either individually develop, or lead the development of, testing procedures to resolve the most complicated, critical in-service failure modes threatening the readiness of Naval aviation.
• You will develop and modifies their engineering efforts, objectives, and methodology in the course of planning and conducting their team’s work.
• You will provide engineering guidance, mentorship and technical direction to senior-level engineers locally and nationally in the understanding and proper application of new developed techniques and testing methodologies.
• You will provide mentorship to journey and senior level engineers in the proper application of advanced techniques in electron microscopy, instrumentation, aircraft crash investigation, and problem solving.
• You will coordinate technical work and liaisons with high-ranking technical officials across NAVAIR, private industry, professional associations, and academia.
• You will conduct classes, seminars and workshops to educate and train developing, journey, and senior level engineers in advanced air vehicle engineering policies, processes, procedures, methods and techniques.
• You will apply novel materials engineering and component service principles to complex problems to ensure that solutions do not create undesirable systemic conditions.
