Job Overview

The Stress Engineer will specialize in Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Analysis with support of the STC development of our wide body passenger to freighter aircraft conversion. The Stress Engineer will perform fatigue and damage tolerance analysis, technical report writing, technical report peer reviewing, development of ICA documentation, and other duties as assigned by the manager.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform fatigue and damage tolerance analysis of aircraft structures to substantiate the supplemental inspection program requirements.
  • Prepare and review fatigue and damage tolerance analysis certification reports.
  • Utilize technical data such as drawings, manuals, etc., to perform engineering tasks.
  • Develop the supplemental inspection requirements and provide input to the instructions for continued airworthiness documentation.
  • Provide Engineering status for work progress as required by manager
  • Meet and/or exceed projected budget and timeline goals for engineering services performed.
Job Qualifications
  • BS Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience in performing Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analysis of aircraft structures, including the application of linear elastic fracture mechanics principles to predict the crack growth life of structures.
  • Experience in writing technical reports and presenting data in a clear and concise manner.
  • Experience using crack growth analysis tools such as AFGROW and NASGRO.
  • Ability to perform all steps of fatigue and damage tolerance analysis with minimal supervision.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings and manuals.
  • Experience prescribing Nondestructive Testing procedures in support of structural inspections program requirements.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the department/company, contractors, and vendors.
