Role DescriptionThis is a full‑time, on‑site role based in the San Diego Metropolitan Area for an Electrical Engineer.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design DED machine electrical systems utilizing AC and DC electronics
- Assemble and test prototypes to ensure functional design and manufacturing goals are achieved
- Create documentation such as electrical schematics, Bills of Material (BOMs), Work Instructions, and other documentation to support downstream manufacturing processes
- Perform I/O and baseline functional electrical testing to support the manufacturing process
- Design PCBs for functional components and manufacturing testbeds
- Use Solidworks to layout components and generate Bills of Material (BOMs)
- Follow revision control, design publication, technical documentation, and part numbering processes
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to address manufacturing issues
- Adhere to UL, CE and other electrical standards and support NRTL certification processes as needed
- Suggest and implement engineering changes per Engineering Change Request (ECR) process
- Participate in design reviews to ensure technical and Design for Manufacturing (DfM) goals are achieved
- Communicate status on projects to Electrical‑Integration‑Test team lead
- Interface with vendors to receive new component technical information, prices, and availability
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field of study
- 5+ years experience designing electrical systems for machine tools and/or industrial machinery
- 5+ years experience field wiring and troubleshooting electrical circuits
- 5+ years experience using Solid Works Electrical or similar schematics design software
- Experience interfacing with suppliers including electronics vendors and PCB manufacturers
- Experience technical writing of work instructions, manuals, and other technical documentation
- Experience applying electrical and other relevant standards AC and DC electronics
- Ability to work in a demanding, fast‑paced environment
- Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with teammates, vendors and customers
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, and Outlook (email)
- Proficient user of Windows PCs
- Previous experience in advanced manufacturing technologies
- Ability to handle ITAR and CUI information and data to support government programs
