Aviation Design Team Lead

Overview

Aviation Design Team Lead is a civil design engineering role focused on oversight and guidance for junior engineers on airport projects. The engineer will serve in a design management capacity, overseeing design processes on projects from start to finish.

This position supports both small and large airport design projects and contributes to shaping regional airports for decades to come. The firm maintains active contracts with many airports in Southern California and also undertakes varied projects such as the reconstruction of a military airfield base on Peleliu in the Pacific.

• Provide technical oversight and guidance to junior engineers on airport design projects.
• Lead design management activities, overseeing design processes from initiation through project completion.
• Support both small and large airport design projects and contribute to long-term regional planning and airport development.
• Collaborate with the regional aviation engineering team to balance project delivery with work-life balance and reasonable travel expectations.

• BS in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to become licensed within 6 months.
• 7+ years of experience.
• Prior experience working on civil airport design projects.
• Prior project management and business development experience is preferred.

The individual can work from Mead & Hunt’s offices in San Diego, California or Scottsdale, Arizona. Hybrid and flexible schedules are available. Travel is usually regional with minimal requirements. Local relocation will be provided if needed.
