Job Summary
SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building, and maintaining utility‑scale solar, battery storage, and high‑voltage substation projects nationwide. As a Junior Electrical Estimator, you will support the electrical estimating team by coordinating administrative activities for active pursuits, gathering and organizing required deliverables, and ensuring estimates are completed accurately and on schedule. This hybrid role requires regular in‑office presence at our San Diego office.
Responsibilities- Coordinate deliverables from internal and external parties, including engineering teams, vendors, distributors, and subcontractors.
- Monitor the electrical estimating pipeline and engage different SOLV Energy teams to support timely submission of required deliverables.
- Coordinate with the electrical estimating team to schedule electrical reviews, request and distribute bid packages, and maintain estimate documentation.
- Assist with scope takeoffs, enter information into the estimating system, and review reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist in quantifying incidental costs required for bid packages, including subcontract work, equipment rentals, tools, and supplies.
- Assist in the comparison of electrical estimates with actual cost data.
- Assist in preparing and comparing project update estimates and bid package estimate documents.
- Attend site visits as needed to learn more about the systems being estimated.
- Maintain professional relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Three years of project field administration experience; completion of or enrollment in a Construction Management Certificate program; or equivalent experience.
- Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.
- Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings.
- General knowledge of construction costs and principles.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Estimating experience preferred.
- Drafting and computer skills.
- Reliable, dependable, and adaptable.
- General understanding of construction cost estimates.
- Ability to communicate priorities and support timely responses from internal and external partners.
- Ability to identify practical solutions that support cost and schedule objectives.
