Geosyntec is seeking a Senior Scientist
- Environmental Restoration Project Management for our San Diego, California office. This role will support environmental restoration projects within our Site Assessment, Remediation, and Federal Services practice, including complex assessment, remediation, and restoration, as well as long-term monitoring. Responsibilities include managing contracts, scopes, schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary technical teams, while also supporting regulatory coordination, stakeholder engagement, and client service for federal, municipal, public-sector, and private-sector clients.

Key federal clients include NAVFAC and other U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) organizations, such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC), as well as the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) and other governmental, institutional, and industrial clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage and support complex environmental restoration, site assessment, remediation, long-term monitoring, and emerging contaminant projects for federal, municipal, public-sector, and private-sector clients.
  • Lead and support projects in various phases of the CERCLA process, including remedial investigations/feasibility studies, proposed plans, decision documents, remedial design, remedial action, long-term monitoring, and remedy optimization.
  • Prepare, review, and manage technical deliverables, including work plans, UFP-QAPPs, site assessment reports, risk assessment support documents, feasibility studies, remedial design documents, long-term monitoring reports, and quality assurance project plans.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee environmental investigation and remediation field activities, including soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, and vapor intrusion assessment activities, while maintaining a strong focus on health, safety, quality, and data defensibility.
  • Develop and manage scopes of work, cost estimates, subcontracting agreements, project schedules, budgets, contract task orders, modifications, change orders, and project controls for multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Coordinate with clients, federal and state regulatory agencies, installation stakeholders, subcontractors, technical experts, and internal project teams to support timely project execution, regulatory approvals, and successful delivery of project objectives.
  • Support environmental restoration programs involving hazardous waste, petroleum-impacted sites, PFAS and other emerging contaminants, landfill management, groundwater monitoring and optimization, radiological assessments, and natural resource protection or restoration.
  • Represent project teams in regulatory meetings, community engagement activities, Restoration Advisory Board meetings, cleanup team meetings, client briefings, and project status presentations.
  • Support proposal development, marketing, business development, and client relationship management for environmental restoration and federal services opportunities.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, geology, environmental geography, environmental policy, engineering, natural resources science, or a closely related field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, natural resources science, public policy, or a closely related field. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 8 years of experience in environmental consulting, environmental restoration, remediation project management, site assessment, or federal environmental programs, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex environmental restoration or remediation projects for DoD, NAVFAC, USACE, U.S. Air National Guard, National Park Service, municipal, public-sector, institutional, industrial, or private-sector clients. (preferred)
